Do you just have one day in Port Blair? Are you wondering what to hit and what to miss during your limited time here without feeling like a substantial part of your vacation is still incomplete? Fear not, we’ll take you through some of the  best things to do in port blair and must-see sights that this tiny history-packed and biodiversity-rich city has to offer.

Since we’ve only got a day on hand, don’t expect this to be an exhaustive guide of everything Port Blair’s surrounds have to offer. But rather consider it a gentle taste of the various flavors of this slow-paced city.

To make the most of your day trip, it is important to base yourself strategically. And that’s where you decide on whether you want our SeaShell Marine Hill property that’s closer to the market, museums, and harbors, or our SeaShell Coral Cove hotel that’s literally a stone’s throw from the airport. You could take a look at our beautiful & luxurious range of rooms through the links given above.

Start Your Day

Start Your Day with a beautiful early morning drive amidst tropical rainforests all the way to Chidiyatapu. Don’t forget to get your brekkie and some water packed before you head out.  Once here, visit the Biological Park, and then hike the short but highly rewarding trail from Munda Pahad Beach to the Lighthouse. This tiny and relatively easy trail is atop a sliver of land that drops dramatically on either side into wildly crashing waves against its rocky shoreline. The sight is simply refreshing..!

Make it back in time for a delectable seafood lunch at one of our multi-cuisine restaurants in Port Blair city itself.

Places to Visit

After lunch, onward to visit the cellular jail for an unforgettable lesson in history. Even the brilliantly efficient architecture of our colonizers is worth seeing and recreating, first-hand.

A short and sweet visit to our anthropological museum in the heart of the city will give you a fair insight into our rich tribal heritage. It is believed that the Andaman chain of tribes migrated here from Africa during the first migration about 60,000 years ago!

Not to be missed, is a visit to Ross Island, once the Capital of the British-ruled archipelago now stands as a symbol of our struggle for independence. At 4 pm there is a ferry that leaves from Aberdeen jetty for a quick tour of Ross, followed by an extremely well-documented Light and Sound show. The same ferry that takes you there will bring you back. There are always limited seats for this which fill up quickly, so you must book this well in advance.

Close your action-packed day unwinding with some live music at our open-air rooftop resto-bar Amaya, and call it a day very well spent. We wish you a restive and refreshing sleep.

Do give this a try and let us know your experience while here.
