KAI – Best Rooftop Lounge at Port Blair
If happiness is a journey then this destination is a must for every traveller. Kai Lounge Bar has played a significant part in making our fabulous vacation to the Andamans such a huge success. As friends, we decided to keep our annual get-together in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands this year. What a super decision! This article is part of a two-piece review of Kai Lounge, and our stay at one of the best hotels in Port Blair – SeaShell Coral Cove.
We stayed at Seashell Coral Cove, which is one of the popular boutique hotels in Port Blair. The hotel is part of the Seashell chain of beachfront resorts and hotels across the Andamans. Situated in Port Blair, Coral Cove Hotel hosts the best lounge bar in the entire Andaman and Nicobar Islands. ‘Kai’ is an open-air, relaxed, rooftop lounge bar with a spectacular view of the airport runway completely lit up at night. And while the hotel is right in the heart of the city and so very perfectly located for all your city sightseeing requirements, you can also be rest assured that you’ll definitely make it for your flight on time thanks to its proximity to the airport. But that said, what we really appreciated was that none of the city’s ambient noise or traffic hustle and bustle was heard at all as it is in a very quiet and pristine neighbourhood.
The receptionist and manager of the hotel helped us plan our entire vacation here and we had an amazing time. Every evening we would return hungry and tired after a fun day spent sightseeing in and around Port Blair. We tried literally everything on the menu and were super happy with each dish. We’re going to list out and describe for you some of our top recommendations for food and beverages at Kai Lounge bar, and I’m sure you’ll love it too.
Firstly, every evening we had live music played for us and it was so much fun that all the guests of the hotel would join in and sing along or even dance to the various numbers. One of my friends was a vegetarian and I am seafood-obsessed so you will be getting a good variety of recommendations from us for this spectacular open-air best rooftop lounge in Port Blair. My vegetarian friend decided to try one of Coral Cove’s signature starters called ‘Bird’s Nest’. Initially, we were very sceptical as to which bird’s nest they would serve us, but they made this super-cool dish from Vermicelli to make the nest and tiny roasted potatoes to make the bird’s eggs!!! It was so innovative and very delicious too! Another dish she ordered on our second night here was Chutney Bombs, which is basically a mix of veggies stuffed with mint chutney! Didn’t sound like much but when we tasted it they would burst and ooze in your mouth with the chutney stuffed inside it. We sent our compliments for such unique creativity to the chef.
I ordered a seafood platter on both nights and just loved it! It was not only sufficient and filling but super tasty and what a variety of options!!! They served chilli squid, fish rolls, fish balls, garlic prawns, tiger prawns in soy chilli sauce, crab in hot garlic sauce, and it was beautifully served! This platter is very filling too.
But if there is one memory alone that I will cherish it is the flaming shooters at this fun-filled rooftop lounge in Port Blair, open-air party place the KAI. Simply the Best! Do not miss this experience during your stay here in Port Blair.
